Archer impérial

An archer of the old imperial guard who still holds his post and his distance.

Overview

An archer of the old imperial guard who fell holding a mountain pass against an army. His lamellar armour rusted onto his bones, but he still holds his post: he keeps his distance and shoots as he was taught.

He stops to aim: the drawn string, held still, is your signal. If you hide behind cover, he lobs a volley of two arrows over it. If you come within 6 blocks he steps back, facing you, and if you are touching him he bashes you with his bow.

Moves

Stance

Sentinel

Stands straight, bow in hand, like a guard at his post.

Ranged

Aimed shot

He takes an arrow from the quiver, nocks, draws and holds the string still, then looses about 1.6 seconds after starting. Range up to 16 blocks.

Ranged

Volley

When you hide, he lobs two arrows high over your cover onto the spot he last saw you (he remembers it for 5 seconds); the second lands a little further.

Move

Side-stepping retreat

If you come within 6 blocks, he backs away facing you until he is 8 blocks off.

Move 1

Bow bash

When you are touching him (about 2.4 blocks), he shoves you with his bow for his attack damage and a push.

Death

Death

His bones give way under the rusted armour.

How to beat it

  1. When the string is held drawn, hold Guard (it blocks arrows too) or dodge sideways with Left Alt.
  2. Hiding does not save you for long: move after a few seconds or the volley falls on your spot.
  3. Close in fast with a sprint: the dash strike reaches him while he is still backing away.
  4. He rests 1 to 2 seconds between moves: that is when to run in.
